Creative expression and imagery have been a significant part of my life, helping me through many difficult times, accelerating my own personal growth, and ultimately leading me to pursue a profession in the healing arts. Being a helping person by nature and realizing the healing power of the creative process in my own life, I became excited about the possibilities of using it to help others... and then I discovered there was an actual profession called "art therapy," and so it began. Combining my love of people, art, and investigative learning, I couldn't imagine a more rewarding job!
Along my personal and professional journey, I became increasingly aware of the mind-body connection and wanted to learn more. I became aware of how my own unresolved feelings sometimes turned into physical symptoms. The more I understood what was happening, and the more I paid attention to "what my body was trying to tell me," the less frequent I would have the symptoms. I also experienced how a physical treatment like acupuncture or massage could balance my emotions. Intrigued, I began pursuing extensive training in mind-body techniques such as hypnotherapy and Neuro Emotional Technique.
Currently, I am practicing as a psychotherapist in both Sherman Oaks and Simi Valley, California, offering a "wholistic" soul-centered approach to a wide variety of clientele. Past work experience includes working with people affected by cancer at weSPARK Cancer Support Center, facilitating creative art workshops as well as providing Neuro Emotional Technique, a mind-body therapy, helping people to release old, “stuck” emotions and patterns, reducing stress towards greater wellbeing. Additionally, I have worked extensively with children, adolescents, and families addressing a wide variety of presenting academic, emotional, social, and familial concerns in both public and non-public high schools, Ventura County Behavioral Health clinics, and with incarcerated adolescents at the California Youth Authority detention center in Camarillo.
Personally, I am a mother of 2 wonderful kids and enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, biking, snowboarding, and reflecting on the metaphors inherent in nature. I also enjoy art, playing and writing music, kirtan, reading, spending time connecting with friends and family, chocolate, and lattes!
